Description of the position
Senior Legal Counsel is a member of the in-house Legal Department and reports to Head of Legal.
It primarily involves the provision of legal advice and support to Business Managers in respect of matters concerning English law and jurisdiction.
Senior Legal Counsel provides support and advice to a wide range of Insurance and Reinsurance Departments in order to ensure that the interests of the Company and its principals and their respective Directors and Officers are protected.
Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for managing other members of the Legal Department and is also part of the legal family of the International Group and from time to time assists with wider projects.
Skills Required
Technical Skills
-Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with at least 4 - 5 years pqe
-Experience in Insurance/reinsurance and/or corporate law.
-Good drafting skills including commutations and other contractual documents.
-Broad general knowledge of related areas of law.
Personal Skills
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Self-motivated and proactive; highly organised and professional approach to work.
-Strong analytical abilities leading to independent, clear and rational advice.
