A well respected Insurer is looking to expand its Claims department in Norwich. Accordingly there are opportunities for Personal Injury Claims Negotiators.

Purpose of the role:
A challenging technical role within the Personal Injury claims department providing a pro-active and cost effective service in handling personal injury motor claims, in accordance with the service standards, FSA regulations and legal requirements.

The emphasis on this role is to provide technical expertise on all personal injury claims to ultimately settle claims economically whilst utilising the guides available. Key challenges surrounding the role will be to build and maintain the client / broker relationships whilst successfully negotiating the claim and reaching settlement within a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
1. Responsible for providing the most effective and efficient claims service in terms of speed, customer care, quality control and cost.
2. To work as part of the Personal Injury Claims department ensuring service is delivered on time and to the highest standards, aiming to meet and exceed the expectations of both internal and external customers in all aspects of claims handling.
3. To build and maintain client and broker relationships, and create a professional claims handling service.
4. Required to record all cases and circumstances, ensuring they are entered accurately and within set timescales onto the division’s system, and external databases including the fraud database and the rehab database.
5. Responsible for attending broker meetings as and when required. To assist the Section Manager in set specific tasks within the department in terms of general administration.
6. To conduct peer reviews and end of year audits, in particular to review set files allocated by the Section Manager.
7. Required to attend court, legal meetings, and other departmental meetings, and in turn report back to the rest of the team at the internal departmental update meetings.
8. To maintain an up to date working knowledge of both the legal requirements governing the motor market, ie: Woolf Reforms and County Court Procedures, and policies including fraud indicators.
9. To be familiar with the JSB guidelines (PI Damage costs) and the Predictive Cost Regime. Accountable for ensuring own knowledge meets current external regulatory requirements, ie: FSA, ICOB (Insurance Conduct of Business) and TCF (Treating Customers Fairly).

Person specification:
Technical Knowledge
To possess a good working knowledge of policy coverage, understanding the underwriting requirements, whilst being able to communicate and liaise with the underwriting team on indemnity issues.
To be aware of medical conditions and competent in assessing medical / GP and police reports relating to the claim.
To maintain an awareness of EU Directives, and the differences of settling claims in other European countries.
Required to attend settlement meetings, and to responsible in assisting the in-house legal team by providing a company presence in court. Softer skills should include negotiation, communication and relationship building skills.

2+ years Personal Injury experience gained in a Syndicate or Insurance Company
