A leading UK general insurer and financial services provider, with an award-winning portfolio of products who are continuing to grow steadily, now have a new vacancy for a Commercial Underwriter in their Underwriting Department.
Job Specification
The main duties associated with this role will include the following:
• Analysis of risk information and making decisions on premiums and terms for all types of complex Commercial risks
• Detailed review and retention of existing Commercial business
• Supporting local Operations team, including attending external meetings and client visits
• Dealing with all forms of written, verbal and electronic enquiries from customers
• Acting as a referral point and mentor for other Department members
• Assisting and supporting the Team Leader as required
• Compliance with all compliance and internal systems controls
• Issuing of new business and mid term alteration documentation
Personal Specification
We are looking for someone has:
• A sound background in General Insurance with proven Commercial Underwriting skills
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• The ability to meet challenging deadlines and departmental quality and service standards
• A good knowledge of FSA compliance issues and the insurance market
• The ability to be flexible and work both alone and as part of a team
• A willingness to travel as circumstances demand
