Trainee Underwriter
£17,000 - £20,000, Colchester
We are recruiting on behalf of a well known Insurer in Colchester for a Trainee Underwriter. The role is within a team that will grow significantly over the next 5 years.
You will be dealing with underwriting referrals from brokers and will be underwriting insurance risks from a wide variety of business classes in order to meet agreed service standards and key performance objectives. This will be a client facing role and you will be involved in meeting with brokers and clients as well as receiving first class training to underwrite these risks.
Key Responsibilities
• To underwrite consistently and profitably while progressing through the training schedule
• Daily interaction with a wide range of Brokers
• Regular communication with the Regional offices
• Identifying non-standard underwriting decisions
Person Specification
• Ideally a graduate with the ability to develop technical underwriting knowledge and make accurate, clear underwriting decisions
• Experience of working in the insurance sector
• Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills
• Ability and desire to take on additional responsibilities
