Claims Director

Our market leading Client has created a new role for a Senior Claims professional to lead their Retail Claims Operation as Director.

You will be responsible for all of their Retail Claims across all of their UK locations.

While you will want to be hands-on with contentious and complex claims and work closely with the Group's Retail Clients to resolve these, plus also in a more proactive manner throughout the Insurance life cycle, above all this is a Management role.

You will have Management responsibility for the 4 locations and the Leaders of those teams will report directly to you.

Accordingly, when restrictions allow, you will want to visit your teams in those locations on a regular basis - as well as be in face-to-face contact with key Clients.

While this is a new role, the organisation is running smoothly so your expertise will enable your people to be carefully managed and your clients to receive an added value level of service as well as their claims settled promptly - thus you will make a difference to your people and the business.

As Claims Director your main responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the Retail Claims teams across all locations, supporting and appraising your Team Leaders.
  • Manage processes, procedures within the Business Unit to ensure consistency, share best practice and provide support for all teams during peaks and troughs of work.
  • Effectively manage a caseload of files of contentious and complex cases
  • Report MI to the Retail Board monthly and when requested
  • General liaison with Insurers, Suppliers, Loss Adjusters and internal staff
  • Negotiate with Insurers and Loss Adjusters to ensure best settlement for the client
  • Technical Referral point on wordings/policy coverage
  • Claims meetings with Insurers, Clients, Loss Adjuster/Loss Assesors.
  • Internal Technical Training to Claims Handlers as required.
  • Work with Delegated Authority holders to ensure their Claims facility runs in line with the DA agreement.

To be successful as Claims Director you will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience of dealing with complex claims within the UK Insurance market
  • Srong People Management experience preferred
  • Able to resolve complex, unusual, contentious coverage issues and communicate appropriately to clients
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult and influence at all levels
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships externally and internally
